Core cut biopsy

Where a mammogram shows any suspicious tissue, the so called core cut/needle biopsy will be made. This method is used to withdraw small cylinders or cores of tissue for histology testing. Tissue from the abnormal area in the breast is taken by means of disposable semi automatic bioptic sets or needles put in the device called bioptic gun, the automatic system for cutting the tissue samples. The sample is then sent to a histology lab for examination and determination of diagnosis.

This hospital makes immediate testing of suspicious tissue findings, and the women need not be sent to specialized clinics, which is an advantage.
